WhatsApp Plus is the grandfather of the WhatsApp-mod scene — first shipped in 2012 by a Spanish developer who wanted a customisable chat client before any of the other mods existed. The project has changed hands twice but the codebase has stayed remarkably lean. Where GB WhatsApp Pro adds 60+ features, WhatsApp Plus picks 30 and polishes them. That trade-off appeals to users who care about stability and update reliability over feature breadth. The 2026 v18.40 release adds Material You theming and a refreshed icon pack but does not chase Ghost Mode or the deeper privacy controls.
